Meet Mary Harman
Mary has more than 25 years of communications experience focused on environmental and energy issues, siting, cleanups, technologies, and infrastructure. Her content knowledge in these areas is extensive. She is a strong visual thinker and has worked in all areas of corporate communications ranging from creative direction, public, media and community relations, to marketing and crisis communications.
Recent work has included communications strategy for TransWest Express, a proposed 1500 mile transmission project in the Rocky Mountain area of the US and communications and community relations strategies for major New England transmission projects and controversial hazardous waste cleanups.
Mary served as Vice President, Global Corporate Communications for Montgomery Watson (a global environmental engineering firm) and Director of Communications for the New England Electric System (at that time a vertically integrated electric utility operating in MA, NH, and RI).
After completing her Master in City Planning at MIT, Mary pursued a four-year studio art degree at the Boston Museum School and brings those visual thinking and right brain skills to her consulting work. She has also been an art consultant to major corporate art collections. Her community involvement includes co-founding a community arts organization, creating an annual artist open studio tour in rural Rhode Island, and volunteer services to ArtWorks! a New Bedford, MA community arts center.
